Rick Majerus, famed college basketball coach, once stated, "To win the big games, you must get to the free throw line and then you must make them."

The Lady Chargers put that strategy into action in the season opener against Cascia Hall, getting to the charity stripe 20 times and then knocking down 16 freebies. Kennedy Gillette was relentless in her attack of the basket, finding herself toeing the line 14 times and converting on 10. Hannah Stanley was a perfect 6 of 6 to round out the teams 80% free throw shooting on the night.

Gillette led all scorers with 19 points, including a three-pointer, and grabbed 8 rebounds in the contest. Stanley was also on fire from outside the three-point arc knocking down 4 of 9 to finish with 18 points. Abbie Winchester posted 7 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the first game of her Senior campaign.

When the final buzzer sounded, Coach Warner's squad had earned a hard-fought 54-44 season opening win over a Cascia Hall team that showed no quit.
