The Heritage Hall Chargers came out of the locker room on Friday night excited to play their first game on home turf. Standing in the Chargers path, though, was the 2-0 Madill Wildcats. Although some experts might have expected Heritage to start off slow after last week's big win over John Marshall, the team came out focused and silenced the critics early.

The Chargers wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, as they opened the first quarter with three impressive touchdowns. Chandler Shapard started it off with a 34-yard strike from Blake Adams. Then Billy Ross, Jr., got into the act with a 4-yard dash to the end zone. Preston Taylor ended the quarter with perhaps the highlight of the night, an interception returned 70 yards to the end zone.

The second quarter was no less prolific, as Morgan Dinwiddie broke free and ran for a 50-yard score. Next, it was Billy Ross Jr.'s turn again, as the junior tailback capped off the Chargers stellar half with rushing scores from 30 and 50 yards. The Hall entered the half with a commanding 43-0 lead.

The second half was much less eventful, as Madill was the only team to score in the third quarter. The Wildcats scored again to start the fourth quarter, before senior backup running back Shayn Powell scampered 13 yards to the house to put the final points of the game on the scoreboard. As the clock ran out, the Chargers secured their second win of the season in blowout fashion.

Ross was the star on the offensive side of the ball Friday night, finishing the contest with an outstanding 143 yards on just 10 carries and finding the end zone on three occasions. Shapard also went over 100-yards receiving on the night and scored once. On defense, Preston Taylor was the star with his pick six, while also adding two assisted tackles. Connor Keith (12), Phillip Smitherman (11), and Garrett McGinnis (10) all notched double-digit tackles on the night. Grayson Wilson recorded a sack to go with his 7 tackles.

If anyone doubted the Chargers would take the Madill Wildcats seriously, that myth was dispelled on Friday night. Heritage Hall stepped on the gas early and never let off, and it led to a commanding 49-14 victory.

Up next for Coach Bogert's squad, an old rival comes to town to try to upset the Chargers on their home field. Competition is always fierce when the Davis Wolves invade Pop Murray Memorial Field, and this year will be no different as both teams are ranked in the Top 5 of their respective classes.

Friday's game will be carried live on ChargerVision with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m.
