It was an eventful Friday night at the McClendon Athletic Center as the Charger boys took home another District Championship with 70-34 demolition of the Harding Charter Prep Eagles. With the win, the Chargers captured their 5th straight district title and the 19th overall for the school. Chris Hamilton has an impressive record in playoff openers, winning 8 of 10 during his very decorated career as the head basketball coach.

The Chargers took an early lead and never looked back on the road to victory. It wasn't the usual suspects who put the ball in the hoop for the Chargers on Friday night. Senior forward Philip Smitherman put on an impressive performance as he cashed in 17 points, tracked down 8 rebounds including 6 on the offensive glass, and stole the ball 3 times.

Junior guard Trey Alexander turned in a stellar performance as usual, scoring 21 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists, and swiping 6 steals on the night.

Outside of those two standout performances, the ball was shared very well – 11 of the 15 players on The Hall's roster scored at least 2 points.

With this victory the Chargers push their record to 17-5 on the year. Up next is a showdown with the Verdigris Cardinals in a rematch of the 2015 & 2016 State Championship games, which the two programs split. Despite being unranked, this year's Verdigris team is 18-6 and presents a solid challenge to the Chargers as they open Regional play.

Onward, Chargers!
