Bobcats can't hang with The Hall

Thursday's football game against the Bridge Creek Bobcats was a fun game to watch and resulted in another win for the Chargers. With the win, Heritage Hall is now 6-0 this season.

The game started out with Chargers fullback Brigham Evans catching a 55 yard pass from Will Paque for a touchdown. This was his third touchdown of the year – Evans also found the end zone against Millwood and John Marshall.

Bridge Creek answered the Chargers with a pick 6 on a pass that glanced off Gavin Freeman's hands to tie the game at 7-all.

With renewed focus, The Hall's offense struck back quickly. Texas Tech commit Gavin Freeman and junior tailback River Faulker each scored for the Chargers in the first quarter to make the score at 28-7. Freeman skied above a defender to haul in a 40 yard pass from Paque, kept his balance, and jogged into the end zone for his first score of the night. Faulkner scored a three yard touchdown run following a defensive pass interference on Bridge Creek at the goal line. Freeman added a punt return for a touchdown, fielding a bouncing ball overhead, breaking through a facemask penalty, and darting 60 yards to the end zone.

In the second quarter, Nick Keith picked off a Bobcats pass and Paque connected with Freeman on a 45 yard touchdown toss.

The Charger defense kept the heat cranked up and Evans hurried the Bobcats quarterback into a fumble, which the senior linebacker fell on to give the Chargers another possession. Faulkner ran around, over, and through the Bridge Creek defense to a highlight-worthy 20 yard score and a 42-7 Charger lead at halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, senior Nick Keith came in at tailback and followed great blocking by Gavin Wilson and Zavier Freeman to score the Chargers' last touchdown of the game. At the end of the third, the score was 49-7 with Heritage Hall leading the way.

Bridge Creek really showed out in the fourth quarter, though. They went on to score three different times on The Hall's defensive reserves, but the Chargers were still able to pull through and take another win, 49-30.

The Chargers will play the Trojans this Thursday at Douglass at 7pm in a game carried live on ChargerVision. Douglass is much improved over last year's team, so this one promises to be another exciting game.
