On February 27th, the boys varsity basketball team took home their fourth straight Regional Championship by a decisive score of 68-50. This milestone is the 9th Regional Championship won in school history. The teams' three Regional games were total domination and no one came close to defeating them.

Tecumseh was the first game on the Regional schedule for the Chargers and it wasn't close as the Savages were swept off the court by 97-36 Heritage Hall victory. Only three points off of 100 and 5 points off a new school record, head coach Chris Hamilton's (220-72 career record) squad advanced to the second round. The leading scorers against Tecumseh were Trey Alexander (15 points) and Kyle Mclaughlin (12 points). Seb Perry and Joe Washington each chipped in 10 points. Alexander recorded a career-high 9 assists as the whole team got involved.

The second game, the Chargers continued their dominant performance. An outstanding 31 points from Trey Alexander propelled the team to an 82-48 victory over Bridge Creek. Other notable performances included C.J. Smith (10 points) and Sebastian Perry (9 points). This game set the stage for the Championship and demonstrated that the Chargers were not messing around.

Finally, in the third matchup the Chargers faced a solid Fort Gibson team. Although Heritage Hall was outscored in both the third and fourth quarters, the 20 point lead they brought into halftime had already sealed the game. Outstanding performances from Alexander and Sebastian Perry carried the team to its fourth Regional Championship in a row. Trey had 26 points, while Sebastian notched 22 with 75% shooting from the field that included 3 straight three-pointers to open the game.

Overall, the Chargers were out of their opponents' league. Heritage Hall outrebounded every team they played on the defensive side of the floor, led by Washington and Alexander; the Chargers aren't just an offensive weapon but also a defensive threat. The combined total of The Hall's victories ended up being 113 points overall. The future looks bright for this team as the Regional Championship qualified them to move directly to the Area Championship – a showdown with cross-town rival Mount St. Mary.

The Chargers have won 4 straight against the Rockets, dating back to 2016-17 season. The Rockets will be a much tougher out than the previous opponents though, as they bring a 17-2 record and #5 ranking into the contest. The game will be played at 8pm on Friday night and will be aired on ChargerVision at NFHSNetwork.com. With a win, the Chargers can punch their ticket back to "the Big House" for the State Tournament.

Onward, Chargers!
