The Chargers football team hosted the Dickson Comets in a District battle in Week 7. As expected, the game was a very lopsided scoring-fest for the Chargers, especially throughout the entire first half.

On the second play of the game, senior tailback River Faulkner took a handoff 63 yards to the house to set the tone.

The Charger defense was able to get a quick stop that put the offense right back onto the field. Once again Faulkner would run it in for a touchdown, this time from 25 yards away. Barrett Travis added a two-point conversion run to make it 15-0.

The Comet offense pounded the ball repeatedly, inching into the red zone. Facing third down and seven from the 15 yard line, Dickson took a gamble and threw it into the end zone. However, junior defensive back Rashaud Smith picked off the pass, bumped into his own blocker, and then returned the interception 101 yards down the sideline to put the Chargers up 22-0 early in the first quarter.

The Charger defense was able to get another stop and the offense drove all the way down to the four yard line leading to an easy touchdown run for Faulkner.

The Charger defense was able to keep a scoreless first quarter for the Comets and would pick up another stop. Faulkner was on fire, as the feature back raced to his fourth touchdown in the first quarter with a 75 yard run. Liam Burton picked the extra point snap and rolled out to find Orie Walker open across the back of the end zone for another two-point conversion and the Chargers led 37-0 going into the 2nd quarter.

The Chargers continued the scoring-fest in the second quarter with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Andy Bass to Walker. Soon after, Bass tossed another touchdown, this time to Zach Fetrow for 43 yards. Faulkner tacked on his fifth touchdown run of the game before the quarter was over. The Chargers went into halftime up 58-0.

In the second half, head coach Brett Bogert '05 gave the young guys a shot. The Comets were able to get in a few scores with touchdown runs of 24, 47, and 22 yards against a more inexperienced Charger defense – and kept The Hall off the scoreboard.

The Chargers special teams played exceptional as well. Kicker, Carter Counts was perfect on extra point attempts.

Heritage Hall's offense was electric, ending the game with 366 total yards – 140 passing and 226 rushing. Quarterback Andy Bass led the offense, completing 4 of 6 passes for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. The rushing leader was RIver Faulkner with 7 carries for 200 yards and 5 touchdowns. Leading the way in receiving for the Chargers was senior wideout Orie Walker, who caught 3 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

The Charger defense held their ground allowing only 20 points, recovering a fumble, and scoring the highlight reel pick six from Smith. With so many reserves seeing second half action, the defense was led statistically by several younger players. Graham Murphy paced the Chargers with 10 tackles, while Cal Welker and Terrance Johnson added 7 each.

The Chargers easily won this game to move to 4-0 in District play. This week, they host Plainview in a much anticipated matchup with title implications. The Indians lost last week to Pauls Valley, a team the Chargers beat earlier in the season, but have been circled on The Hall's calendar since the start of the season as one of the top teams in the District. The showdown will be carried live on ChargerVision.
