In a whirlwind match against Penn Avenue rival Casady, the Chargers survived an early barrage and a late surge to take down the Cyclones in a rivalry renewal at the MAC.

The Cyclones roared out to a 25-19 set one win, catching the home squad off guard. However, the Chargers weathered the early storm and bounced back to take game two 25-20.

In the third set, The Hall crushed the Cyclones in a 25-8 victory and carried that momentum to an early game four lead. However, Casady battled from behind to extend the game and stay alive with a 26-24 set four win.

As the match raged on to the deciding 15-point set, the Cyclones built an early 7-3 lead. After a timeout, the Chargers rallied with their own 7-3 run to even the score at 10-10. The teams traded points until it was knotted at 13. With a loud and rowdy Jungle cheering them onward, the Chargers got massive kills from freshman Kashlynn Cooper and sophomore Elle Zenner to put the match away.

The victory (19-25, 25-19, 25-8, 24-26, 15-13) advanced 4th ranked Heritage Hall to 9-3 on the season. The Chargers previously topped the Cyclones this season (25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22) at the Casica Hall Commando Shootout on August 16; Casady was not a full strength in that match-up, with starters injured.

Reece Foster tallied 3 aces and 13 kills to lead the attack for The Hall.  Raegan Ferris added 11 kills, while Cooper and Zenner netted 8 kills apiece. Audrey Flynn and Brooklyn Moore set up teammates on 21 assists each. Taylor Smith led the defense with 25 digs on the night.

Up next for the Chargers are non-conference showdowns with 5A #1 Mount St. Mary at home and 4A #8 Tecumseh on the road. Following, a 6-match GMAC stretch will feature some challenging conference opponents as first year head coach Katie Brown prepares her squad for a serious run at state title.

Onward Chargers!
