When and Where:
vs. 3A Madill (2-0)
September 8 (FRI) 7:00 PM
Charger Stadium

Most Recent Matchup:
Heritage Hall squared off with Madill in second game of the season last year, and the Chargers took care of business. The Hall started slow, turning the ball over twice in the first half and leading by only eight points midway through the second quarter after a Madill touchdown. However, the Chargers did not panic and stormed ahead on a 28-7 run to take control of the game. The charge was led by Morgan Dinwiddie, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Blake Adams bounced back from his two first half interceptions, as he threw for 227 yards and two scores, while also adding 58 yards on the ground. The Chargers eventually beat the 3A #10 Wildcats with the score of 42-19, improving the school record to 29 wins in a row, and 2-0 on the 2016 season.

Player Spotlight:
Madill will likely lean heavily on wide receiver Trevor Goff, who had a tremendous game offensively and defensively in last year's contest with the Chargers. He recorded 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions, while also intercepting two passes on defense. Although the final score in the game was not close, Goff was definitely a force to be reckoned with for the Wildcats on both sides of the ball. If Madill is going to complete an upset over the Chargers in 2017, Goff will need to have yet another stellar performance.

Outlook:
The Chargers look to avoid a loss in a possible trap game against the Madill Wildcats in Friday's home opener. The team puts last week's demanding victory over the 3A #3 John Marshall Bears in the rearview mirror, while also not looking ahead to week three's matchup against 2A #5 Davis. Heritage Hall had many great performances in their 41 point output against the Bears, including Conner Carey who was expected to be a big part of the ground game, but actually starred at receiver, catching eight passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. Fortunately for the Wildcats, Carey is questionable for their matchup this weekend, as he is dealing with turf toe. Although many Chargers shined on offense, the defensive effort as a team was the real highlight of the game. The Hall limited Devonte Lee and the John Marshall attack for the majority of the contest led by Jaden McDaniel and Garrett McGinnis, who together tallied 25 total tackles. Chandler Shapard's game changing interception returned for a touchdown gave the Chargers lead in the third quarter. Madill has the offensive weapons to take down Heritage Hall on the road. However, if the Chargers play like they did last week, they should have no problem taking down the Wildcats and improving to 2-0 on the season.
