Chargers set multiple records in best season ever

Fastpitch had a record-breaking season. The team had the best start in program history, then ended with the best winning percentage and the deepest playoff run in the program history – a season for the books!

The team lived up to their motto, "Be uncommon," this year. Charger fastpitch had a program-record .667 winning percentage. A five-game win streak happened twice this season and goes down as the longest in program history.

Senior KyAnn Woods, UMA Softball commit, had a season and career to be remembered. In 2020, Woods had 10 doubles at the plate and a 1.39 earned run average in the circle – each are the best seasons on record for those stats. KyAnn added her name three times to the career record book this year. She had 28 doubles, 276 strikeouts, and an earned run average of 2.65 during her time here at the Hall.

Senior Annie Perkins was just named "Homeland Scholar-Athlete of the Week". She had a fabulous season, as the catcher for the chargers, as well as dominating whenever she was batting.

Fastpitch entered their postseason September 29 at the BI-District Playoffs against Hennessey.  There were two games that night, both ending in the Eagles being run-ruled by the chargers.

The first game was won 21-0. Senior Tia Brown had a great game with three runs for her three times at-bat. Freshman Lainey Portman had a fantastic game with two runs one at the end of a big HOMERUN! On the pitching side of things, junior Lauren Day and senior Kyann Woods pitched this game, the Eagles could not score on these girls. Woods pitched for three innings and only allowed one hit, while Day struck out 3 of 5 hitters she faced and didn't allow any hits.

The second game was pitched entirely by freshman Adelaide Haack. Finishing with 8 strikeouts, and no points on the board for the Eagles. Not only did Haack have a great night pitching, but also scored two runs.

The wins over Hennessey propelled the Chargers into Regionals at Dickson High School. The outcome was not exactly what the girls were hoping, but there were still several good moments.
The first game went great for the Chargers, who beat Davis 3-0, for the first Regional win in program history. Woods pitched the whole game keeping the wolves at zero the entire time.

The second game was very close, but the Kellyville Ponies scored 3 runs in the late innings to score a comeback 3-2 victory and send the Chargers back into the elimination bracket.

The third game at Regionals was a rematch with Davis, but this time the Chargers were beaten by the Wolves, 3-0, ending their title hopes.

The Chargers had a season worth remembering. With a lot of young talent on the team, it looks like The Hall will see many more great things from fastpitch in the years to come.

Onward, Chargers!
