On Tuesday night, the Chargers took down the Lexington Bulldogs to rewrite the school history books. After starting the year 1-1, the Chargers won 16 straight to break the previous record of 15 victories,  held by the 2012 and 2018 squads..

To win means to combine good hitting with good pitching, at the very minimum. The Chargers have excelled in both aspects of the game – they have scored a combined 196 runs while giving up only 41 throughout the streak. Nonetheless, Heritage Hall has still been tested throughout the season, most recently in Bethel.

In the first of a district doubleheader, the Chargers faced an early deficit. Down 7 runs in the 5th inning the Charger lineup got hot as they began to chip away. Little by little, the deficit shortened – with a 3-run 5th inning followed by a 5-run 6th to take the lead. However, Bethel tied it in the bottom of the inning. In the 7th inning the Chargers scored 10 to blow it open and score the win.

Game two was also a close game, with two lead changes before another late game burst of offense helped the Chargers sweep the set.

The streak started back on March 23rd with a 5-4 win over Kingston. Head Coach Jordan Semore then guided the Chargers to wins over Plainview, Chandler, Little Axe (2), Guthrie, Kingfisher, Vici, Canute, Purcell (2), Bethel (2), Destiny Christian, and Lexington (2).

The streak ended in an 11-7 home loss to a very talented and well-coached Tuttle team. The teams were tied at 6 before Tuttle pulled away in the last two innings. The Tigers, a favorite to win Class 4A, are coached by former Charger head coach Breck Draper.

A new streak began with a 13-5 rout of Crossings. You can bet the Chargers will make a deep run in the Class 3A playoffs in May. Onward!
