During his four years at Heritage Hall, Batista was instrumental in three State Championships and a Runner-Up finish. He tallied 25 goals and 15 assists despite playing the center back position in a stingy Charger defense. Lamar was awarded the team's Freshman Newcomer of the Year and followed that up with three consecutive Defensive MVP awards. Known for his defensive speed and finesse on the ball, Batista also made the All-State team his Senior year. Batista was offered a scholarship and signed to play college soccer with the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos.

Batista took the pitch 18 times for UCSB, with 11 starts and saw most of his time as a center back and holding midfielder. The freshman logged 1,127 minutes, top among the team's new players. He was key to UCSB's defensive turnaround in the second half of the season, earning the starting nod in 10 of the last 12 games. With Lamar on the defense, the Gauchos posted a Big West leading 0.75 goals against average. Batista was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team. The Gauchos record with Lamar in the starting lineup was 6-2-3, with five of those matches resulting in a UCSB shutout.

Following his Freshman season at UCSB, Lamar was signed by the Portland Timbers MLS soccer team, and played a significant role on the 2017 Portland T2 USL squad.
