By the numbers, Sam was the most successful receiver in Charger history. He ranks 1st in receiving yards in a season (1,485), 1st in receptions in a season (75), 1st in career TD receptions (34), 1st in TD receptions in a game (5), 3rd in career receiving yards (2,056), and 4th in Career scoring (232). A pushing defensive back, Sam also ranks 3rd in career tackles (368), and 3rd in career interceptions (18). After being named to the Little All-City, 2A All-State, Oklahoman All-State, and Oil bowl teams in 2004, Sam went to play on Northern Colorado State University.

BASEBALL
One of the leaders of the great 2005 teams that finished 25-6, Sam had lightning speed and a great bat. His batting average of .538 in 2004 is the best for a single season, as were the 50 hits he recorded that year. In his career he scored 131 runs, 2nd on the list, and his 73 career stolen bases ranks #1. Sam is also among the top five in several other categories, including most triples in a season and most career walks. An All-State baseball and football player, Sam chose to play football at the University of Northern Colorado.
