After over a decade of silence in the Charger wrestling program, one scholar/athlete burst onto the scene in the new millennium to become one of the most successful athletes to wrestle at Heritage Hall. Of the eight school record categories, Phillip Doerner ranks #1 on four lists and among the top 3 in two others. Phillips #1 rankings include: most victories in a season (35 in 2002), most victories in a career (100), most falls in a season (22 in 2003), and most team points in a season (208.5 in 2002). Phillip is tied for 2nd in most falls for a career (52) and ranks 3rd in career points (528). While wrestling at Heritage Hall, he fashioned an amazing record of 100-17. A state champion in 2002 and an All-Stater in 2003, Phillips most important achievement may be that he was named to the 2003 Academic All-American team. He went on to wrestle at Stanford University.
